I have never been a part of any debate team prior to entering law school, so I had serious doubts when the opportunity came to join the Athena Law Moot and Debate Society (ALMaDs) of Cagayan State University – College of Law. Like everyone who is clueless as to how debates really work, the first thing that goes into mind is the very adversarial tenor of matches. It sure looks scary. But for someone who does not back down from new experiences, I readily accepted the challenge and began my mooting journey!
In November 2018, we headed to Ateneo Law School in Makati City and participated in the 4th Justitia Teehankee Moot Court Competition, or as they call it now, the Teehankee Cup. And for the first time in 4 years of competing in the event, the team reached the final round and even won the Best Applicant Memorial award!
Like I told Jed, Zen, and Ricky, they most definitely inspired me to look forward to more mooting competitions because of their awesome performance. And we had a lot of fun!
